A truly beautiful morning greeted a good sized pack, and I am referring to the amount of hashers not the size of the individuals therein, although a good size does refer to many of us, at Counters Gate car park near Goodwood proving that most of us are fair weather hashers. The JMs had other duties with it being Mothering Sunday so Old Faithful had been asked to stand in. This he did and Andy & Pip from North Hants HHH were introduced as was newcomer P???? P????.
Pip explained that now it was lighter North Hants ran in the evening so this gave them a chance to get a run in the morning!!! Hashit anybody?
Over to the hares and Sinbad gave a vague few snippets of info and we were off into the wooded area. We set off at something between a brisk jog and a serious amble which was just as well as I was having trouble keeping up with Becky who was 5 months pregnant. Does this qualify for the youngest hasher ever to have run with the Chichester pack? -4 months?
Bambi and Whispers as usual were well in the front looking for flour and occasionally finding some, although this had very little to do with the trail they followed as they preferred the skill of complete guesswork and the pack, not being very bright just follow blindly along.
We fumbled around the wood for a while and then came out onto the car park of Goodwood Racecourse which was filled with cars attending an antiques fair. Dont the English do strange things on a Sunday morning? (says a hasher!!) However this was all bluff and we were back in the wood seeking out the trail once again. Old Faithful thought that he was on track until Sinbad called him back being helpful and trying to stop him wasting energy running across a field with no trail. This was a bit rich said Old faithful as he had found the trail a bit further on and was grateful for the shortcut. The pack moved along briskly (well briskly for us) being turned a few times. We kept passing Miss Perfect and 3 star who appeared at checks without actually having seemed to have run there. Back in the woods and up a small incline which reduced the ref and I to a steady crawl as Pancsi bound past us (well ambled actually) and on to another check.
At this point Jairo and the Eskimo were discussing who had the most layers of clothes on in the sunshine, a Brazilian or a Hungarian?
Visitor Andy and new man Porno Prick were at the front actually running with PP stripped to the waist - this did make me wonder about how he got his nickname but the hash passed without any incident so we are still left wondering. It was about now that we were aware that Peter Torchy Maisey have honoured us with his presence clamming that nobody had told him that the clocks had gone forward! So into the final wood with the Can Man collecting cans as he went and remarking that this weeks total was 91 cans. Now is that obsessive or what???
So back to the chariots where Sinbad handed out chocs and flowers to all of the ladies (female hashers) and the hashit could not be presented as Hash Flash had forgotten to bring it. Who is to carry it next time is still in doubt. So as 3 Star scurried about looking for any leftover chocolate, the pack retired for well earned refreshment, looking forward to the next one - the 500th
