Run 6282 March 2008Dogwhistle and GeoffEmsworth South Street Car Park SU749056

It was Mothering Sunday but nobody mentioned it as a sizeable crowd of seventeen gathered in South Street carpark on a bright sunny morning, temperature 12ºC. Dogwhistle appeared at the last moment, fresh from laying to give us the usual claptrap, but there was a hint of shiggy on her shoes that must have come from somewhere.

So given a nod we all charged up South Street finding remnants of flour on the pavement. A long falsie down King Street split the pack so by the time we had made our way along Queen Street and down the levee on the west side of the mill pond we looked like a long strand of a yellow pearl necklace all apart from one pearl (Old Faithful) who ended up coming down the other side on Slipper Road, there is always one!. A patchy trail saw us through the boatyard to a regroup on the wall at the southern end of the marina.

Hash wise there are not many places to go from here, no one was tempted to try and run round Thorney Island, the main pack headed back north through the fields at the end of Mill Quay and straight into the shiggy. Concentrating hard on picking our way through the shite we failed to notice that John and Hash Flash were no longer with us, to be more accurate I think no one seemed to care. Out of the mud, we went across the main road and along Lumley Road to a nice little check on the edge of the "Nature Reserve". There were loads of ways we could have gone from here. Eventualy we found trail to take us round the south side back across the A259 (via underpass) and west along Havant Road. Now we had a long long stretch all the way to, and then down Beach Road. Charging away at the front Pancsi had his sights set on the beach but over ran the right hander that took us along West Road to a regroup on the edge of the fields.

All back together again at last we headed south for the briney and into the scrub just before the beach, where some sabotage to a check and trail saw us wandering around in circles. With a bit of help the way out along Western Parade was found, and realising that this was homeward the pack went directly on-in, past the swimming pool and round The Promenade, completely missing a short "sting in the tail" loop much to the disapointment of Dogwhistle.

After a round of applause for the hares, dishonourable mention was made about the callous way that John and Hash Flash had been abandoned and Spiderman for blaming his limp on having spent too much time on "The Piste". The hash-it was given to Godiva for wiping her muddy feet on Pancsi's jumper, "whats wrong with that!" I hear you shout. We then downed fluids in a local, but I cant remember which one.

On-On Bambi.
