A gloriously benign morning was blossoming at the cemetery, a bunch of kids were thundering over the wedges and ramps in the skate park below while just above the odd figure moved amongst the tall stones delivering flowers to the rather less active residents.

In between, the Hashers gathered making their own dawn chorus of natterings about what a nice day it was, which wine goes best with Fish & Chips and did anyone want to lay the next Hash?.

Close enough to the appointed hour some semblance of organisation became apparent as the JMs welcomed a visit from Nappy Rash and handed out a hundred lines to Head Boy "I will arrive on time in future".

The Hares were as inscrutable as ever, this being the third time on the trot for Old Faithful he expressed the desire that one day he might have the pleasure of following someone else's trail.

The pack bounded off and soon found flour amongst the tall pine and invasive rhododendrons to the South West of the park. Progress was smooth with Pancsi, Nappy Rash, Two Ferrets, Snake Charmer, Head Boy and the like all doing a great deal of running around, while Prancer seemed preoccupied with grumbling about a Hare Arrow that pointed to a Falsie, we all know that rule 46 allows this ploy in heavy thicket when there is an R in the month.

We had just crossed under the power lines, negotiated the slippery slope beyond and were cruising along a path lined in young birch with warm sunlight on our left cheeks when suddenly Vixen felt unable to maintain her equilibrium and assumed a position of intimate contact with the planetary surface.

Ham strings were discussed and briefly the possibility of fetching a vet to have her put down, in the end Tigger helped her back to the chariots.

Meanwhile the few in front, not caught up in the drama, were wandering amongst the sand and mud on the North shore of the old pit, the pack caught up just as they found the steep climb to the old railway track and headed West.

Through the gap formed by an old bridge in the embankment a surprise awaited us in the form of Mussolini standing there in his usual arms folded pose, long time no see.

The pack now spilled out across Severals Road still heading West into The Warren where a swathe of land has been roughly ridden of Rhododendron and almost everything else, as if an F12 Tornado has touched down, great for hiding a trail.

The way out lay to the North, however Head Boy and Nappy Rash took in some long falsies before the pack took this direction.

Soon we were recrossing Severals Road and under the power lines again, so some of the old timers were correctly guessing our route.

Two Ferrets took this to the max by making the steep climb up to the seat at the viewpoint, as we have done so many times in the past, not this time however. The mistake was compounded as Pancsi and Snake Charmer followed her up, despite a total lack of flour.

Heading East then a few easy checks brought us to the On-In after one hour and fifteen minutes of blue sky hashing.

At the circle Prancer continued to moan about misleading Hare arrows, we saw Vixen was definitely on her feet again, we laughed at Two Ferrets leading people astray, then we gave the Hash It to Mussolini for staying away for so long.

On ? On ! Bambi
