Nearly all the ingredients were perfect for this run, the route had been well planned, the flour had been laid, the weather was warm and dry, the signage had been deployed, what was to go wrong?

Hang on a minute, where are the Hashers?, nowhere that is where.

Only the crème de la crème turned up at the bright white chalky car park on the hillside edge of the QECP. Dogwhistle would have been there were she not driving around the pay and displays on the other side of the hill looking for Hashers.

Keep calm and ... etc. we are not going to let little thing like this spoil our morning are we? anyway Kinky had brought his horn and was looking forward to a good blow.

Including Hares, eight and a half good souls set off at the appointed hour, the half being made up of Spiderman who was using a stick and said he was not feeling a hundred percent.

We set off west alongside the SDW except for Splasher who was half way down the hill towards Buriton church before he was called back, not happy.

Meanwhile Kinky and Pancsi were scampering about like spaniels on Speed finding all the falsies as the Packette made slow progress into Ludgersham Copse. Here the Hares made an executive decision to slash the route in order to have a hope of getting to the pub before it closed. Soapbox wisely returned to Treefeller's chariot to read the papers, seven and a half souls carried on trying to keep calm.

Next we entered the maze of bike tracks in Head Down plantation and flirted with the edges of Gorecombe Hole, with the likes of Pru and Spiderwoman getting more than their usual share of healthy exercise.

We reached the On-In after fiftyseven minutes of breathless hashing and returned along the SDW to the Chariots.

In the small circle, the still non existent Hash-It was nominally given to Spiderman, I can't remember why? I did not make a note, I was about to make a scribble when there was great applause as Dogwhisle turned up, having done her own mini hash.

Then we charged down the hill to The Village Inn which was also short of participants, empty car park and lonely bar man, that did not stop us having a fine time on the patio, keep calm and keep supping!

On – On ! Bambi
