With the clocks going back all 20 hashers turned up almost on time. The Halloween Pumpkin Patch Fair along the A272 near Rogate caused 20mins. delays to those coming from Portsmouth but all were present at the off.

After the rain finally stopping overnight the ground was still a little soggy in places but we had a chilly but dry day for our hares to lay their trail.

We started heading east out of the car park and across the road into Stedham Common. A back check caught out the front runners and turned the pack around, so we thought, as we met the short cutters standing on the next check. On through dappled sunlight, that always plays havoc searching for the dots of flour, following the young Hashers, Pocket Rocket and Owen, to the next check.

Something in the ferns caught Doctor Blood’s eye. As he crouched down taking photos, the rest of us were well spread out looking for the trail. Flash found the flour and shouted back that he was on dot "5". It’s amazing that Hashers can actually count up to that, well he is an accountant!

Maybe someone should explain that in the CH3 you are on with the first dot and the strain of having to count and shout back the number of dots is not necessary. This is the bad influence created by other hashes who do not know our rules.

With the sound of Kinky’s horn up ahead we continued through the shiggy and pine trees parallel to the road, which we crossed back into the heather of Iping common. Our J.M. suggested a re-group but decided against it as she was in the lead.

Eventually a call from behind for a re-group meant a chance for a photo shoot. Stopping for a few moments seemed to confuse the pack, as a back check that Snake Charmer had taken us all on became false. At least this gave our "Hash Puppies" time to check out the depth of the puddles, not quite in the way their mothers would approve!

Once again it was Kinky with his horn that put us onto the correct trail with the youngsters now at the back hobbling along with their soggy feet. Soon the On-In was found and we were back at the chariots in exactly 1 hour.

At the circle the hares were thanked for putting on the dry weather and a good run.

Splasher was the main nominee for the hash-it for over running a falsie, something that he strongly denies, but Snake Charmer took the opportunity to christen Owen with the hash name of "Grasshopper" mainly for his long legs and award him the hash-it for being too bouncy. Menus were handed out by our J.M. for the Hash lunch on 8th December.
