An estate agent might say that there was a deceptively large turnout for this run, few in number yes but large in enthusiasm and joie de vivre.

A deep blue sky with galleon clouds scudding along, driven by a strong Southerly, deceptively warm at times. Our nearly ninety one year old Hon President turned up, thankfully the car park was deceptively large, allowing him to manoeuvre his battered chariot with ease.

Did you know that dogs can be gluten intolerant?, well Bambi didn't until a lady he encountered while laying the trail put him straight in no uncertain terms, so the usual smile and "don't worry it's only Tesco flour" can be a cause of alarm for some dog walkers, not many, a deceptively large number.

What with the possible removal of flour caused by glutenophobia and strong wind Bambi had used pink chalk to mark the trail wherever possible. With that in their deceptively large minds the pack set off South and into the houses with deceptively large gardens, garages and utility rooms, all realistically priced.

After a few hors d'oeuvres checks to whet the appetite, things got more serious among the ponds and boardwalks of the Platinum Jubilee Country Park, yes, that's what it's called, there does not appear to be any big sign to let us know.

Progress through here slowed as Bika had a leisurely chat with other visitors as Snake Charmer tried to get Belle to swim by tossing pebbles into a pond "fetch!", splash, wade wade, but no doggy paddle.

This brief idyll ended as we left the park at it's bottom left hand corner, looking North that is, and negotiated a narrow plank walk across a deceptively dry ditch. Then we followed the ditch North to Newlands Lane, meandering around in the narrow strip of woodland between ripening wheat, and tripping over the gnarly roots of old old trees.

Then with Kinky in front, a blast West to Salthill Lodge which is now boarded up and slowly descending into dereliction. On a positive note, the recent housing developments have created a wide and luxurious walk/cycle path North from here almost to Old Broyle Road, and that is where we went, with a short detour through some of the remaining accessible woodland south of the West Broyle Estate, a deceptively large area.

A fish hook for one at the top caught Snake Charmer before we regrouped on the road to cross into Brandy Hole Copse, here we couldn't help but notice a Ford Fiesta marooned on the pavement after having been rear ended by what may well have been a motorbike, judging by the dent in it's back end.

A nice little canter South East through the copse brought us to the On-In after one hour and ten minutes of wind blown hashing.

Out came the folding chairs and table and we were soon nibbling munchies and sipping nectar.

There had been some shortcutting to consider, and a bit of getting lost, however we awarded the Hash-It to Spiderman for breaking the plank and getting a new shoe wet when crossing the ditch, he is a deceptively light chap.
