Its hard to believe that another year of hashing has gone by, yet there we were assembled at Freeman Towers on a bright cold dry new year morning following a hard frost.
On this event the trail no longer has many surprises, we all know that we are headed for the Lavant, its just a question of how we get there and how many times we have to wade through.
This year the trail went out through Raughmere Farm to the crosspaths above Lavant village hall without any drama. Here Pancsi and others were duped into taking a long falsie over the rock hard ploughed field towards the pub probably fooled by the scent of stale beer.
The rest of the pack found the trail up through the soccer pitch and over to Centurion Way and Beka found a yellow ladies purse, which didn't suit him but which did contain a bank card.
Having carried out due dilligence north and south on CW the pack headed west to the next check, not complicated this one but Jamie overan a falsie and went a long long way before he could be called back.

A longish hack out to the road and then back along The Devil's Ditch to Lavant School strung the pack out a bit which was not helped by Can Man's continual dawdling.
A bit of a regroup by Lavant church and we were soon heading down to the Lavant for the first crossing, with Hornblower hooting the way ahead, although some whimps (Tigger, Chamois,Beka) chose to cross via the old railway bridge and keep their paws dry.
Then we went with the flow south to the second crossing by the sports field where Flash and Panda had a bit of fun playing "Its time for a bath".
Heading south now we took La Rive Droite opposite Church Farm to the third and final crossing just below the sewage works.
Even though there were a few more checks the pack wasnt taken in and speedily headed on-in.

In the warm comfort of Doc's lounge with bellies full of nosh and beer the old Masters discharged their final duties, mentioning Mr Bean for being an SCB on the soccer pitch, the whole pack for overrunning the falsie on The Devil's Ditch, with the Hash-It going to Sweaty Butterfly for mentioning that her initials are actualy SCB.

The 2008 Hasher of the year award went to Panda.

Then the new Joint Masters, Pink Flamingo and Dr Blood took charge for the raffle which did not seem to go on and on for so long this year.

Bambi.
