A blue sky day looked warm but was cold in the shade after a frost that had done for the runner beans. There was no doubt that this hash was going to be pancake flat, what was unexpected was the popularity of the carpark with two soccer matches taking place which caused a shortage of chariot space
Somehow we all managed to find a spot and soon a comparatively large pack assembled, consisting of the usual suspects and a number of folk that Shureshot had press ganged into action
I lost track of all the names, I caught John, Debbie, Celia, Fee and Jerry but was then distracted by the team in yellow and red as they scored a goal
Canman continued with the football theme by telling us that on this day in 1851 the first professional team was formed in Sheffield

The hares warned us of busy roads and mentioned something about prizes for those who might bother to collect little pictures that had been hidden near falsies, however since a sizeable minority of the pack did not know what “falsie” meant, Spiderman attempted a crash course in hash marks which was amusing but had little effect, ending with "don't worry, you will soon pick it up"

Then we were off and straight away a bunch headed by John Nash and Cath were lured into taking a long falsie north towards the lakes, the rest found true trail west on a long busy main road pavement slog to the Hunston roundabout, with Brylcream and Jerry up front
Two checks with associated falsies in close proximity then took some unravelling before a regroup across the main road at the canal bridge
Not a lot of choice here, so the pack was soon on its way west along the towpath and then south into the houses
At the next check Pete and Jerry ( who says that he this area this area very well ) seriously overran a falsie east, continuing doggedly on for ages without a sniff of any flour, perhaps a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing ?

Some easy checks then took us back over the main road and along the path to Church Farm where we unexpectedly reached a dead end regroup in the garden of the Manor House for a photo call for the pack posing amongst the wire meshed models of animals. An interesting collection that would be worth a return visit for a more leisurely viewing
Some well positioned checks and falsies now kept the pack together as we headed homeward, north east through the fields with the added spice of a ladies check

Eventually we emerged to a check at St Stephen's with Spiderwoman and Tigger delighted to be amongst the first to arrive
We could have headed on-in easily from here however there was more to come as the trail headed east on the path to Runcton, which turned into a real sprint to the bridge with Old Faithful, Jerry, Pete Brylcream and Fee being real FRBs
Spiderman awarded Poo sticks to this group who maintained the competitive mood by racing them along the stream under the bridge

Heading north we then crossed the main road again and soon found our way to the on-in through the wood in the south eastern corner of the rec after one hour and thirtyone minutes
It was not until most of us were back in the carpark that we noticed the Dr Blood was missing
He returned just as the search party was about to leave, muttering something about waiting at the last regroup because he thought that he was first to reach it

There were nominations for Tigger for being all too fit for a lady of a certain age, Spiderwoman for something, Mussolini for being absent , but the Hash-It was awarded yet again to Brylcream because it annoys him so much.

Bambi.

As Bambi did not go to the pub he failed to mention that we enjoyed a brew at the Walnut Tree where the Landlord made us most welcome even giving up a table which was set for the Sunday lunch. Spiderman.
